DX Price Slashed to $379

A week back, we reported about the price cut on Amazon Kindle 6-inch model, and predicted that we could soon see price-drop on 9.7 inch Kindle as well. So, here we are, Amazon has reduced the price of the Kindle 9.7 inch from $489 to just $379.

At the moment Kindle DX is available on pre-orders, while the shipping will start from July 7.

Here are some of the key features of Kindle DX:

  • Electronic ink display providing 50% better contrast.
  • Improved view in bright sunlight.
  • Built-in Twitter and Facebook app.
  • 1 week battery backup with 3G.
  • Accelerometer.
  • Free e-book samples.
  • No monthly charges for 3G connection.
  • Hard keys.

iPad and Kindle DX shares the same screen size of 9.7 inch (diagonal), but there is a difference of $250 between iPad 16GB with Wi-Fi and 3G, and Kindle DX. Also, Kindle DX users do not need to pay the monthly rental for 3G service.

Hence, it would be wise decision to buy Kindle DX, if all you want is an e-book reader with some social networking.
