Aircel has launched 3G in few cities this week . This test was taken in Chennai.
To activate 3G on Aircel you have send an sms START 3G to 121
Aircel has a promotion for 3G in which you get 250 MB of free usage till Feb 27th and 50 mins of video calls
You have to create a new APN / Accesspoint – aircelgprs.pr in order to get the connection working on a prepaid sim.
The 3G coverage seems pretty spotty and not fully ready yet. The connection kept switching from HSPA to EDGE many times.
- 1.8 Mbps or 1870 kbps in terms of download speed.
- The upload speeds never crossed 300 kbps.
