Indus To Add more 5000 Telecom Towers Every Year | solar-powered telecom towers

Indus Towers, World’s largest independent tower company, has revealed plans to add nearly 5,000 telecom towers every year for the next five years and clock a revenue of $2 billion this fiscal.

Indus Towers, a joint venture between Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular, presently owns more than 1.1 lakh towers and has operations in 16 out of the 22 telecom circles.

“Currently, there exists a huge opportunity for tower companies in servicing the needs of 3G and BWA along with addressing the needs of new operators which are going to deploy their networks.

Indus Towers is also claimed to be the world's first telecom tower company to have achieved a portfolio of over two lakh tenancies within a few years of starting its operations.

The number of mobile service providers sharing a tower determines the tower's tenancy. The company says it is also setting up solar-powered telecom towers in order to reduce expenditure on power consumption.
