Introduction of the world’s first fully 3D printed car called, The Urbee. This incredible hybrid car has its entire body, including its glass panel prototypes printed in 3D and is being hailed an yet another magnificent addition to the growing list of hybrid vehicles, designed and developed to reduce the effect of carbon emissions on the environment.
Design :
The Urbee has been designed and developed entirely with the protocols required to create an eco-friendly vehicle. The car with both an electronic propulsion system as well as a conventional gasoline engine and the Urbee is said to achieve than 200 mpg on the highway and 100 mpg in urban driving conditions while running on gasoline or ethanol.
Furthermore, the Urbee’s electrical motor can be charged from a normal household electrical socket and achieves 100% charge in just one night, while this engineering marvel provides the drivers with the mileage of just two cents per mile.
The Urbee has been designed with the combined efforts of Ecologic and Stratasys, that has done the entire 3D printing on this hybrid vehicle.stratasys employed an all new methodology called, fused deposition modeling (FDM), that essentially helps in the creation of plastic by applying real thermoplastics in layers from the bottom up.
This principle helps the car makers in removing any need to tooling, machining and handiwork.
