NASA and DARPA have decided to collaborate on a space project of sending manned space ship to Mars and the plans are not just limited to that, they are planning to make it a one way journey! Which means astronauts will be sent Mars to stay forever.
“Hundred Years of Starship” will certainly be one of the most ambitious and audacious space programs of NASA till date.
Apparently this mission will be accomplished by another couple of decades if funding works out and right advanced propulsion system is put in place. The estimated cost is huge with NASA willing to commit $100K and DARPA pledging $1 million.
NASA’s ambitious space exploration programs do extend human borders and human imagination. But still this “Hundred Years of Starship” plan seems too grandiose. How will they create environment on mars to sustain astronauts for longer time or are they planning to send slice of artificial environment as well? What kind of world are they planning to create out there? Planet Earth seems to be already in trouble thanks to human activity…
