Open source developers, both big and small, now have a common platform to help them collaborate with other like-minded people more effectively, where they can share their projects
, learn about using
open source principles and Creative Commons licences, and build better businesses, lives and communities. This platform is called Open Up and it is a speaking/discussion forum where each event will feature a variety of speakers who will each get five minutes to present their project and five minutes for Q&A.

The best part is that you don't need to attend an event to hear the presentations or discussions. All presentations and discussions will be uploaded to the Open UP video archive for the world to see. After the presentation, there will be an open discussion for people to network and share their views about incorporating open source ideas and principles into their work.
Open Up is a start-up from Thomas Becker and Seedspace, a collaborative effort of event coordinators and community organisers to help in the creation of events. Their first event is scheduled on 18 August 2010. Discussions will focus on education, maker spaces, social networks, global community building and open business models, and the videos will be available in the archives.
This project looks promising and is an extremely exciting opportunity for cross pollination and discussion of open source ideals and principles. What are your views on Open Up? Do share them in the comments section.
