BlackBerry Launches The Touch-QWERTY-Slider Torch

The name of this device sounds very interesting -- Torch. BlackBerry devices always lacked that extra heat which iPhones and Androids got naturally. May be RIM decided to move ahead with all guns blazing from the initial steps itself. The OS 6.0, which the Torch sports, has a lot of improvements over its predecessors. The form factor of the Torch is consistent and provides a full touch screen with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Torch comes with the WebKit browser, which is a much needed improvement.

The Torch has a new outlook towards applications, which according to RIM are, "fresh, but familiar." With the Torch, RIM has also improved its developer outreach, making it easier for developers to make more iterations to the platform, making BlackBerry App World a better place to explore. RIM has addressed its OS and UI shortcoming that the developers faced. This might just bring BlackBerry back into the apps race in the long run.
